JOHANNESBURG - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) said it would be taking disciplinary action against its Polokwane councillor who was expelled for not attending council meetings.
Former ward 13 councillor, Mafiwa Leballo, was expelled by the Polokwane council this year.
This triggered a by-election in a ward where the EFF’s president, Julius Malema, is registered as a voter.

Malema was in Seshego on Wednesday to cast his ballot in the by-election.
"We have learned a big lesson, and that’s why I said at the Tshela Thupa Rally that we need to have disciplinary action. The municipality cannot take action, and we don’t take action because that will be to encourage ill-discipline. A lot of resources have been utilised for this day alone because of the conduct of one individual. The organisation cannot turn a blind eye."
Malema said it was important that he votes in his home ward as a way to encourage people to take by-elections seriously. TCG pic.twitter.com/Ismo0UKPW1
