A week ago, KZN Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi claimed his detectives uncovered a police-linked criminal syndicate, accusing senior officials, including Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, of interference and ties to businessman Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala. President Ramaphosa called it a serious national issue and offered to meet with Mchunu ahead of his address.
