PRETORIA - Deputy President Paul Mashatile said that the disconnect between political leaders and appointed government officials was contributing to the slow pace in improving service delivery.
There have been concerns that political appointees and senior administrative officials in government are not aligned in their approach to governing.
Mashatile is hosting a roundtable discussion at the Presidential Guesthouse in Pretoria on Friday, aiming to improve relations between government officials.

He said it was counterproductive for political leaders and government officials to work in silos.
"We have realised that many challenges that government is dealing with are also as a result of relationships where ministers or political leaders and administrative leadership are not pulling together. That’s why you have a very high turnover of director generals and HODs [heads of departments] leaving government because of political interference."
