IFP throws down the gauntlet ahead of local elections

DURBAN - The Inkatha Freedom Party is certain next year’s local government polls will be a turning point.

The party celebrated its 50-year anniversary at the Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi stadium in Ulundi - northern KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday, 

Delivering the keynote address, party president Velenkosini Hlabisa said it would take more than electioneering to win in the upcoming polls.  

“The 2026 local government agencies elections will not be won through slogans and empty promises.”

He has urged party representatives to respond timeously to issues of service delivery.  

“As we go into the future let us be more people-centred then before, more responsive on issue of service delivery.”
