DA wants stronger relations with the IFP

DURBAN - The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Kwazulu-Natal wants to deepen its relationship with the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) especially ahead of next year’s local government elections.  

The DA forms part of the IFP-led government of provincial unity and holds the Finance and Public Works and Infrastructure portfolios in the executive council.  

The provincial party joined the IFP at its 50th anniversary rally in Ulundi on Sunday.

DA KZN Chairperson Dean Macpherson, "We of course work well in the government of provincial unity and national unity, we want to see how extend and deepen those ties that exist between our parties and look towards the local government elections next year - where I am sure that we will be governing many more municipalities in KZN."

He said that the parties would continue working together -where they share common interests.  

"Our relationship remains rock solid, I have a very good personal relationship with the chairperson of the IFP, and the leader has a very good relationship with the leader of the Inkatha Freedom Party, and we will continue together in both of our interests and the interests of the people of Kwazulu-Natal."
