CAPE TOWN - Former US Ambassador Ebrahim Rasool said he doesn't regret his actions that led to him returning home as a persona non grata.
But despite his treatment, Rasool said South Africa's relationship with the US must be rebuilt and reset.
Rasool said that while he was unsuccessful in getting his foot in the door of the White House, his expulsion proved that his message reached the highest office.
"We come here even after being declared persona non grata, we still come here and say we must rebuild and we must reset the relationship with America because our relationship with America over 50 years has not always been with the White House, it has sometimes been with Congress and it has always been with the people of the United States of America," Rasool said.
