ANC says it has 'sorted out' dissenting voices on budget, 'speaking with one voice' on matter

CAPE TOWN - The African National Congress (ANC) said it had "sorted out" dissenting voices within its ranks who did not back this budget. 

Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana delivered the 2025 fiscal outlook on Wednesday, after weeks of contestation.

The ANC's Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri said she was comfortable that this budget would pass and continue the work of government.
 
"That's all been sorted out. The ANC is speaking with one voice on this matter. We've had a look at what's best for South Africa, and we'll ensure the work of government is not destabilised as a result of some differences around the budget."

The party's national spokesperson added that the work now lies in the engine rooms of Parliament, with the committees, to get this budget over the line.

"This is a negotiation. The negotiation will happen in the process of parliamentary committees. Let's allow this process to unfold. For our part, as the ANC, we are quite comfortable."
